Restoring and improving: Bond Lab's advanced analytics system
finance
About this project
Montrose assisted Bond Lab in restoring and enhancing their incomplete system infrastructure. The project involved reconstructing missing code, finalizing system functionality, and developing a secure API/website for authorized users. Additionally, Montrose improved the system's performance by migrating the database from PostgreSQL to Amazon Redshift, significantly boosting query execution speed.

The challenges
Incomplete codebase
The original system was incomplete, requiring extensive research and reconstruction to restore functionality.
System integration
Needed to integrate and finalize various system components, akin to solving a complex jigsaw puzzle.
Performance issues
Addressed performance limitations of the existing database by migrating to Amazon Redshift.
Access control
Developed an API and website with secure, restricted access to meet the client's specific needs.
The solution
By leveraging Docker technology, customers gained the ability to easily deploy ready-to-use copies of the system, which was developed through a collaboration between the Client and Montrose. The solution utilized cloud-based Amazon Redshift for efficient access to MBS data, sourced from the eMBS feed. This system facilitated complex aggregations and selections, effectively replicating and potentially replacing the functions of publicly available proprietary libraries.
Before
- The existing system infrastructure was incomplete and unstable, with missing code and unfinished components.
- The codebase had not been deployed and required substantial maintenance.
- Analytics scope was limited, and database performance was inadequate.
After
- Restored and completed the system's functionality, filling in missing code and recreating the infrastructure.
- Developed and deployed a new API and website, with access restricted to authorized users.
- Migrated the database from PostgreSQL to Amazon Redshift, significantly boosting query execution speed and overall performance.
- Extended the scope of analytics to meet the client's complex requirements and enhance their service offerings.
Our technology partner Montrose Software delivered high quality solutions in a timely manner. I highly recommend Montrose Software.
